Working together, Mark and Duncan’s mission is to work sustainably to provide locals and ramblers with great tasting, ethically sourced and environmentally friendly products, at a very reasonable price. They are working with local charitable organisations to embed amazing outcomes in three main areas of passion: Children’s charity ‘Team Evie’, the Cumbria Community Foundation and The Ewanrigg local Trust.

PRODUCT DETAILS

Cumbria tea is ethically and sustainably sourced, exclusively from Kenya and Malawi. This allows tracking to be on the whole process from growing tea on plantations through to delivery in the UK. Currently working on gaining certification from the relevant ethical bodies. It is a refreshing brew from the home of the lakes, with 80 tea bags included in the box.

This tea brand has a great taste and is 100% plastic free of the following, Plastic free and biodegradable tea bag paper for home composting, plastic free and biodegradable inner wrapper*, plastic free FSC certified outer cardboard carton and natural colourings used for all packaging. (Supermarket brands often include traces of plastic in your teabags). Top to bottom good.

*PLA (polylactic acid or polylactide) is a biodegradable thermoplastic made from renewable resources like corn starch or sugar cane.

Please check your local council waste management capacity before disposal. PLA can be bio-degraded within circa 3 months at industrial food waste and composting facilities but takes longer in home hot composters.

While PLA is recyclable, it cannot be recycled with other types of plastics because it has a lower melting temperature that causes problems at recycling centres.
